A Little Bit About Me

Hello! I am Emily, a 26 year old lettering artist & graphic designer living in Saint Louis. I love designing, drawing, painting, crafting, but my favorite thing to do is hand lettering! There is something about drawing words and phrases that brings them to life. I currently work for a home décor company, Willliamson Home, creating art for canvases, blocks, wood pallets and other table top and wall décor items. I also do freelance design work with projects including logos, invitations, and more, most of which include elements of hand lettering. If you can’t already tell… I eat, drink and sleep design. I am currently growing my design library including a few of my favorite books so far: “In Progress” by Jessica Hische, “Hand Lettering 101,” “Creative Lettering and Beyond” and “How to be a Graphic Designer without Losing Your Soul.” My favorite Pantone color is 7472.
Here is a little bit of my background. I have been a creative individual all my life. My dad was a graphic designer and creative director, so I grew up seeing the agencies he worked at and learned to appreciate art at an early age. In May 2016, I graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), with a BFA in Graphic Design and a BA in Psychology with an Art History minor.
While in school, I was a student graphic designer for the Morris University Center Marketing Department creating posters, flyers, tickets, and coupons for the different departments in the main building on campus. I spent my summers interning at Cheree Berry Paper Company where I mainly helped with the production of wedding invitations and stationery, working with a talented group of designers.
